What is Love (Part XI)

Love always fills an empty Life….

"You can come to understand your purpose in life by slowing down and feeling your heart's desires" (Weider, 2000, p.19).
Attraction is not love, it is infatuation rife, be it between strangers or between husband and wife. Confuse not love with lust in the least, love makes a saint but lust a beast.
Love is the nourishment for life in this world of struggle and strife. Realize the Love in those moments of living when you find joy in giving, only for sake of giving. Life without love is like barren land with no vegetation but only sand
Love is selfless, generous and kind, they are out of their mind who thinks that love is blind. If the world is a tree then love is the seed, love has no room for jealously or greed
Neither for anger nor for hate, love indeed is the ultimate goal of every man's life.
"Devotion is a choice to focus one's being in a certain way, to bring one's faith, commitment, creativity, and love into coordination with a particular value and purpose" (Bugental, 2001, p. 32) Love is not for an object or goal of any kind, love indeed is the ultimate state of mind. Love is as old as life: love for life originated with life itself. Every living being from plants to microbes to humans wants to live. Love for others than oneself is evident in animals as well as birds that go to great length to nourish and protect their offspring. But love takes on a special meaning in human life.
Our whole life revolves around love for something or other.  Any obstruction in the way of fulfilling our love results in frustration or anger. Without love our life feels empty.  We need someone we love to share our happiness as well as our sorrow. We love other beings be it family members, friends, other people, animals, and even plants.  Our love for art and paintings has been evident and preserved in the caves through centuries.  We love to dress up and constantly develop increasingly attractive attire. We love poetry and music. We love abstract ideas like stories and take great pleasure in enacting and watching the enactment.  Although our entire life revolves around love, its definition varies from person to person and from minute to minute.  So we grade love in comparative terms e.g. we love something but have greater love for something else. And the ultimate display of love is giving up ourselves to the loved one be it a person or our originator. Total giving of oneself in love is so rare that most of us often term them as crazy, although the lover is in the ultimate state of bliss.
